5 And as he lay and slept under a juniper tree, behold, then an angel touched him, and said unto him, Arise and eat.
6 And he looked, and, behold, there was a cake baken on the coals, and a cruse of water at his head. And he did eat and drink, and laid him down again.
7 And the angel of the Lord came again the second time, and touched him, and said, Arise and eat; because the journey is too great for thee.

Many are the times the child of God will find him or herself in the same place as the prophet of God in our reading this morning, the journey seems to be too great. Elijah has been in the service of the Lord, had been through the struggles and trials, had seen the Lord bring about a great victory, had endured what we would call a great journey. Now the man of God is weary and worn and just to take another step seemed to be impossible. Our journey through this life is always going to be too great for us and that is whey need our Lord so very much. Soon we find Elijah apart and alone with God, hearing the still small voice of God, and being refreshed for the journey he was on as he served his Lord and his God. Is the journey too great for you this morning? Then get apart and alone with Jesus for a time, read His Word, pray and trust and you will find that the journey is never too great for our God. Allow Him and His Word to refresh you today.
