Luke 5:17-19 And it came to pass on a certain day, as he was teaching, that there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, which were come out of every town of Galilee, and Judaea, and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was present to heal them.
18 And, behold, men brought in a bed a man which was taken with a palsy: and they sought means to bring him in, and to lay him before him.
19 And when they could not find by what way they might bring him in because of the multitude, they went upon the housetop, and let him down through the tiling with his couch into the midst before Jesus.
KJV
How they had to work to get their friend to Jesus. Jesus was in a certain house teaching and preaching and as those four men approached the house they found they could not get in. The multitude had filled the house, the doors were blocked, the windows already filled with the faces of people standing outside just desiring to see Jesus. What to do? They made their way to the roof carrying their friend, took up much of the tiling, and lowered their friend into the room where Jesus was. What would happen if people put that much effort into coming to the church hose today, that much effort in bringing others with them today? Perhaps we would see greater miracles than those people saw that day. But if it is raining outside, if it is too hot, if it is too cold, if there is a good game on the TV, if family are coming to visit, if we are tired, if we need to go someplace, if, if, if. What if we did all we could to get to where Jesus is today, what miracles might we see in our lives and in the lives of those we love?
