14 The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.

Stand still and see. Four very important words for the born again believer in Christ Jesus to keep in mind. The children of Israel could have done many different things as they came to the Red Sea with the armies of Egypt in pursuit. They could have turned to fight, but they had no weapons. They could have fled into the mountains, but there were none they could climb to hide them. They could have built boats to cross the sea, but they had no time. They could have complained which they did. They could have surrendered and gone back to Egypt as slaves, which they were about to do. Or they could trust in the Lord and wait to see what God would do. Stand still and see. That was at the very same time the hardest and easiest thing for them to do. We also find it very hard to stand still and see at times. We see the problem, we see the trial, we see that nothing we do on our own will help, so what to do? Stand still and see for our God always sees what we do not and is always there to fight for us and then to deliver us. Why not stand still and see? (Isa 43:10-11Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. 11 I, even I, am the Lord; and beside me there is no saviour.)
