Obad 10-12 For thy violence against thy brother Jacob shame shall cover thee, and thou shalt be cut off for ever.
11 In the day that thou stoodest on the other side, in the day that the strangers carried away captive his forces, and foreigners entered into his gates, and cast lots upon Jerusalem, even thou wast as one of them.
12 But thou shouldest not have looked on the day of thy brother in the day that he became a stranger; neither shouldest thou have rejoiced over the children of Judah in the day of their destruction; neither shouldest thou have spoken proudly in the day of distress.

All have noticed I am sure how some take pleasure in the troubles of life that come upon others. The children of Esau are being rebuked and chastened by the Lord in the above verses because of the way they rejoiced over the troubles of the children of Jacob. God calls it violence in verse eleven and what were those violent acts? They rejoiced over the troubles of Jacob, over the destruction of cities and people, over the distress of Jacob. Those two, Jacob and Esau, were never seen as close in the Bible, but they were brothers by birth and the one should have never rejoiced over the troubles of the other. Yet we as Christians often do the very same thing when we see a fallen brother or sister in Christ. How many times have we said or thought “They got what they deserved.” Instead we should pray for that one as we need others praying for us. We should not rejoice over a fall, we should pray for a restoration. Why take pleasure in the troubles of others when we see very clearly that God is not pleased when we do?
