Ps 142:1-3 I cried unto the Lord with my voice; with my voice unto the Lord did I make my supplication.
2 I poured out my complaint before him; I shewed before him my trouble.
3 When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then thou knewest my path. In the way wherein I walked have they privily laid a snare for me.
KJV
The last time the word path is found in the book of Psalms is in verse three above and it brings up a statement and a question for our devotional this morning. First, who do you turn to for help when you are overwhelmed by the trials and troubles of life? Second, there is only one who knows all about you and the path you are on. Why not then turn to the only one who knows your path and the one who walks before you on that path? David knew there was no man who could help him. (Ps 142:4 I looked on my right hand, and beheld, but there was no man that would know me: refuge failed me; no man cared for my soul.) But there was one who cared for David’s soul, one who could provide the refuge David needed and that is the one he turned to time and time again. (Ps 142:5-6 I cried unto thee, O Lord: I said, Thou art my refuge and my portion in the land of the living. 6 Attend unto my cry; for I am brought very low: deliver me from my persecutors; for they are stronger than I.) David turned to the one who knew his path. Is that what you will do today when you become overwhelmed?
