Rev 14:13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.
KJV
Above is the only place in the Bible that the words works and follow are found together and the truth of that verse often comes home to me. I came across a little book I have in my study the other day titled “The Song Is Christ” that is an autobiography of the life of Erik Weber which he dictated to his wife Joyce, both now in heaven. That man, born in Germany in the thirties, brought to the United States by his parents before WWII broke out went blind at a very young age. He grew up in New Jersey, went to a school for the blind, migrated to California, became a musician, played in night clubs having learned to play several instruments and lived life as he could. Then he was gloriously born again, saved by the blood of Jesus, and gave his life to Christ. He ended up in central PA, was active in a Bible believing local church as music director and was part of a summer church camp hosted by that church. I was twelve, spent a week at that camp, listened to Erik’s testimony, heard what the Lord Jesus Christ had done in his life, and that moved me to give my life to Jesus for service as well. God moved that young boy from Germany to New Jersey, from California to Bellwood PA, then to a camp in the surrounding hills and now over fifty years later I find myself reading his book once again and being moved to do more for Jesus today. Our work and labor for the Lord Jesus Christ does indeed follow even after we are standing in His presence in heaven. Leave some works and labor for the Lord that will follow.
