1 Tim 6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.

One of the hardest things to find in this world is listed in the above verses, contentment. It seems we always want more than we have and the more we have the more we want. There is an old saying that I am sure I will get wrong but it goes something like the following. Lot had a lot but when Lot looked at his lot Lot wanted a lot more than the lot that Lot had and after Lot got a lot more the lot that Lot got left Lot worse off than Lot was before Lot got a lot. I am sure I got that saying wrong but it does say a great deal about the nature of man. It is easy to look past the riches we have in Christ and how we are being blessed by our Lord if we keep looking for well watered plains that take us away from where God wants us to be and what God has already blessed us with. That was what Lot did. (Gen 13:10 And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered every where, before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, even as the garden of the Lord, like the land of Egypt, as thou comest unto Zoar.) But those well watered plains took Lot away from the blessings of God. What if Lot had just found contentment in the riches he had abiding with Abraham? We will never know, but the lot that Lot found in Sodom did not bring Lot contentment, it brought Lot destruction.
