48 But Jesus said unto him, Judas, betrayest thou the Son of man with a kiss?
KJV
This kiss, perhaps the most well known kiss in the Bible, marked a night of betrayal and Judas will be forever remembered for betraying one who loved him so much with a kiss. How do I know Jesus loved Judas? (John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. ; John 15:13
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. ; Rom 5:5 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.) Those verses applied to Judas as much as they apply to all today and Jesus did love Judas. But did that kiss mark the greatest betrayal ever, or do I betray Jesus today in a greater way when I do not speak for Him today, do not pray today, do not read my Bible today, neglect the house of God today, love the world today? Are those greater betrayals? I would say they are because I do know what Jesus has done for me in saving me from sin and hell, I do know what Jesus does for me today and each day, and I know what Jesus is going to do for me one day when this live is over. How many times do we betray Jesus today going beyond what Judas did?
