1 Thess 5:17-18 Pray without ceasing.
18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
KJV
The word ceasing in verse seventeen means to continue without omission. It is a call for continual and specific prayers for people, for prayers of intercession. Paul needed prayer and was calling for God’s people to pray. The word ceasing is found seven times in the Bible and each time it is connected with prayer. But I wonder how many of us pray without ceasing? There seems to always be something that interrupts our prayer lives, takes us away from our time in prayer, removes the “Ceasing” from our prayers. By my own experience Satan attacks my prayer life more than any other thing I can think of. If Satan can hinder us in prayer he weakens our walk with Christ and our service for Christ. If Satan can hinder our prayer life he is able to steal away our joy in the Lord, our peace that we have when we are close to our dear Lord. A very simple command “Pray without ceasing” but perhaps one of the most important commands given to the born again child of God. May we, my I, continue in prayer without ceasing.
