How important is prayer, what place does prayer have in your life? We see in our reading this morning that before Jesus chose those He would call apostles that he spent a night in prayer. Jesus, the all-knowing, all-powerful God of creation spent time in prayer and communion with the Father before He named those men. If prayer was that important to the very Son of God it needs to be even more important to us. We don’t know what this day holds, what tomorrow will hold, but Jesus does. Jesus began His public ministry in prayer in the wilderness and ended it with prayer from the cross. Jesus prayed before men, He prayed alone, He prayed before preforming miracles and after, He prayed for the sick, He prayed for those who were well, He prayed on a ship, He prayed before a tomb, He prayed on a mountain top, He prayed in the temple, Jesus prayed. How would you compare with Jesus in prayer? Most of us claiming to know Jesus as our personal savior would agree that prayer is important. But how many of us pray as we should? How much time will you spend apart and alone today in prayer with your heavenly Father in your saviors name?
