December 12th, 2023 by Pastor Solley1 Peter 2:6-9 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.
7 Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,
8 And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.
9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
KJV
Are you peculiar? That word as we use it means strange or odd. Are you peculiar? The Bible tells us we are or we should be. When one repents of sin and receives the Lord Jesus Christ within they are changed. (2 Cor 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.) That change that takes place when salvation is real makes us different from the world. Our attitudes change, our actions change, our appearance changes, we are made new and in the eyes of the world strange. (1 Peter 4:4 Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:) For the born again child of God to be called strange, odd, or peculiar is a compliment. But to be peculiar we need to be different. Look carefully at verse nine above as we will look closely at that verse the rest of this week. What have you been chosen to be? Peculiar.
