KJV
I wonder when I read of Samson if he had forgotten where his “Great strength lieth”. It most certainly was not in his long hair or even in his nazarite vow of which his long hair was a sign. The strength of Samson was in the Lord but he had walked away from the one who had called him and set him apart. Samson was called to deliver Israel from bondage and he fought and won many battles with the Philistines who had captured much if not all of the nation. But his victories were not complete and he never did bring the freedom to the people that God wanted. Why? Samson forgot where his “Great strength lieth”. Although we are indeed free in Christ today if we know Him as our personal savior we as well need to remember where our strength lies. It can be a great strength, a strength the lost wonder about, a strength that lifts us above this world, a strength than nothing can ever match. But we need to remember where our strength lies. Samson did some great things in battle but how more there could have been if he has just remembered. Never forget the one who made us free and never forget where your strength lies.
