2 Thus saith the Lord the maker thereof, the Lord that formed it, to establish it; the Lord is his name;
3 Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.
KJV
Here is our motivation to pray. This promise was made to the prophet Jeremiah when he was found in prison because of his faith, his stand, and his preaching. Can this promise be claimed today by the believer in Christ as we see our faith being attacked? It can and the foundation for that is found in 1 John 5 (1 John 5:14-15 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: 15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.) John was attacked because of his faith, his stand, and his preaching. Yet the Lord delivered the aged apostle and gave him a vision of the victory that would come as well as heaven itself in the Revelation of Jesus Christ. Our God remains faithful, He changes not and we should take great comfort in that eternal truth. Here is another truth that we may not find so comforting. All who exercise their faith in Jesus Christ, all who take a stand, all who proclaim His truth and the gospel will face what Jeremiah and John faced. But remember dear brother and sister in Christ Jeremiah 33:3
