Ps 91:1-5
91 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
5 Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;

Psalm 91 in a psalm that I read quite often as a pastor visiting people in the hospital as well as people I meet in volunteer work. The danger in reading something so often is that one can begin to read the words without thinking. For example, going into a town near where we live there is a speed limit sign of 25MPH. I read that sing all the time and have for years. It is easy to go past that sign, know what it says, yet not slow down. Some time back the town police decided to crack down on speeding and although I never got a ticket the sign took on new meaning as I saw others pulled over. I slowed down going into town. We can read this beautiful Psalm and others like it over and over again and we lose sight of the meaning, that is until trouble comes into our lives. My point is this, don’t wait until trouble comes into your life for the Bible and passages such as this one to take on meaning for you. Read the Bible and place yourself in the place of the men the Holy Spirit used to write down the words, it will give great depth to your Bible reading.
