Phil 4:11-13
11 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.
12 I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.
13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
KJV
That is quite an accomplishment in verse 11, to be content. Contentment is not a quality possessed by many if any people. It is natural for man to want more than he has. I didn’t say it was good, but it is our nature, to want more, to think we deserve more. People are always complaining about something, always grumbling about something, people are by nature discontent. How then did Paul find that contentment missing in the lives of most people? Paul found it in the Lord. Notice verse 13. Paul lost all that he had in his life before he was born again. He lost his position in Jewish society, in Jewish religion, he lost his family, he lost his livelihood, he lost everything. Yet he could say he was content, satisfied with life. Why? Because his life became hid in the Lord. What are you missing today? Nothing when you give all to Jesus.
