Eph 6:16-18
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
KJV
There is a piece of the Christian armor that is at time left out when preaching on this passage and that is found in verse 18, prayer. No soldier in this army can go into battle alone no matter how well they are armed. To stand alone is to fall in the fight. Who then to stand with? It is good to have brothers and sisters in Christ to stand with, it is good to think of the angelic force that is there to fight the enemy as well. But if we go into the fight without our Commander in Chief we will fall, we need His presence more than anything or any one else and we get assurance of His presence in prayer. We enlist His help in prayer, we get His wisdom through prayer, we cannot win the fight apart from prayer. How much is prayer a part of your life? Does prayer hold you up, hold you together as it does the armor above? We desperately need to pray. In time of trouble pray, in time of distress pray, in times of sorrow pray, in times of rest pray, in times of victory pray, in times of joy pray. One things we need above all others is prayer.
