Phil 4:7-8
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
KJV
A great deal of what goes on inside of us, internal peace and rest or turmoil and sorrow, comes from what we think upon day by day, hour by hour, even minute by minute. There are plenty of things for us to think upon that can cause deep depression. Troubles in our families, health problems, financial worries, children and their problems, grandchildren and their problems, the sin cursed world we live in, dangerous times, homes that need repaired, cars that are old, on and on I could go. We all share some of these problems, there are no exceptions and at times we can become overwhelmed. What to do? The Bible directs our thinking in a different direction, the Bible gives us different things to think upon. This morning take some time and think of the good things that the Lord has done for you. Think of miracles that have taken place in your life. Think and sing to yourself or out loud the great hymns of the faith. Think of the God of heaven wanting to hear from you. Think of His Word which has been given to you. Take some time to think of good things and see if that doesn’t brighten your day.
