33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
KJV
Another key to living a life depending fully on the Lord is to have a single eye. (Matt 6:22
The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.) What is a single eye? It is to look at everything through a heavenly perspective. This is impossible without a close and personal walk with the Lord. There are some things that I am praying for right now in my life that I know in my mind would be better if God would just do what I am asking. But do I really know that? Only God knows the end from the beginning, only God does all things right, only God knows what is best for me and those I love. Can I then pray and ask for the things I desire and then pray that His will be done and leave them with confidence in His capable hands? I need to if I am going to live as verse 34 tells me in our text, I need to look at things through a single eye, a heavenly eye. That eye keep me from being discouraged, that eye keeps me from being disappointed. I didn’t say I never feel disappointment or at times discouragement. But those times are tempered by a single eye and those times pass when our eye is single, when we have a heavenly eye. Keep a single eye.
