Matt 6:31-34
31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
KJV
This passage speaks of leaving all our worries and troubles in the hands of god, leaving them all with Jesus. Certainly that is what the Bible calls for us to do. (1 Peter 5:7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.) But that is easier said than done. How then can we do what the Bible encourages us to do, leave it all in His hands, give all our worries to the Lord? There are several things, several steps we must take found in Matthew 6 that we will look at this week. First, one must have a personal, intimate, relationship with the Lord. (Matt 6:6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. ; Matt 6:18 That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.) This is not speaking of times of public worship and public prayer, but of our secret, personal time with the Lord. Too many professing Christians have the public time with the Lord. They are in church when the doors are open, they are to special services and fellowships, they have the open and public times, and they should. But they lack the personal secret times with the Lord that they need. God wants to speak to you today dear Christian and wants to hear from you today. Not in a hurried fashion, not getting the bits and pieces of your leftover time, but really have you spend time with Him. Do you give Him that time on a daily basis? I must confess it is a daily battle with me. Yet if we do not give Him that time, do not listen for His each day, do not give Him our hearts each day, we can never leave all on the altar as we should. I can’t leave it with Him if I am not with Him to begin with.
