He spake also this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none.
Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground?
And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it:
And if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down.

Today we look ahead. None know what 2018 will hold, it is a mystery about to unfold before our eyes. Will there be many hard trials, will there be sickness and sorrow, will there be days filled with blessings? Most likely all these things will be true and through it all there will be one we can depend upon, one who will never fail us, one who will never let us down. Note the phrase above “This year also”. Much of what I can expect from the Lord in this New Year can be found in what God has done in the past. If He is going to work “This year also“ , doesn’t that tell me God has worked in the past? I have no idea what this New Year will hold, but I am sure that God will be working in my life in 2018 as He has done in 2017. I would not have made it through 2017 were it not for the faithfulness of the Lord and I will need Him even more in the coming year.
