Luke 13:6-9
6 He spake also this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none.
7 Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground?
8 And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it:
9 And if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down.
KJV
“This ear also” in verse 8 looks to what will be done for the vineyard in the coming year, but it also looks back to what has been done for the vineyard in the past. As we consider 2017 and what type of fruit we have born for our Lord we also need to consider all that the Lord has done for us. Were we taken care of in 2017, were we protected, were we provided for, were we comforted by His presence, were we guided by His Spirit, were we taken care of in 2017. If you think that answer is no then you need to stop and take a good look back and ask God to open your eyes to all that He has done for you. It is an ungrateful and selfish individual who cannot see what has been done for them. Look back today and take some time to thank God for all that He has done for you in 2017.
