Gen 2:15-17
15 And the Lord God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.
16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
KJV
Adam and Eve heard the Word of God directly from the mouth of God. There was no mistake in what God said, no misunderstanding, no gray area, they heard the Word of God directly from the mouth of God. Now, what would they do with God’s Word? Would they obey, or would they disobey God’s Word? We know the answer to that question and we know what followed. The precedent is set for us in the third chapter of the Bible, disobey God’s Word and suffer the consequences of that disobedience. God was not joking, not kidding around, not telling them to obey if they felt like it, God gave His Word and demanded they obey. It is no different today, what God says God means. Some think would be better if God spoke directly to us, but God did that with Adam and Eve and they chose to ignore what God told them. If we choose to ignore then Word of God today what makes us think we would listen to the spoken Word? Friend, there is a choice you and I will make today, will we obey or ignore the Word of God. I have proved many times in my life what Adam and Eve showed me in the Bible, to disobey brings more trouble than I even want to think of. What choice will you make today?
