Ps 84:1-4
84 How amiable are thy tabernacles, O Lord of hosts!
2 My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of the Lord: my heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God.
3 Yea, the sparrow hath found an house, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, even thine altars, O Lord of hosts, my King, and my God.
4 Blessed are they that dwell in thy house: they will be still praising thee. Selah.
KJV
I can remember the days when people longed for the house of God, the days when people loved to go to church. There was a time when that was true even of the lost, people loved to go to church. With all of the troubles we have today, with the sin that has overtaken our society, I wonder why people have not returned to that time when they just love to be in church? If there is one place that sits almost empty, at least to what it should be, it is the local church. Note above the safety and shelter the sparrow finds in the altars of the Lord. No bird is as vulnerable as the sparrow, yet even thy can find shelter and protection in the house of God. David knew if the sparrow was safe in tabernacles of God surely he would be. Where will you find your safety, your protection, your comfort? Note as well the blessings that are found in the house of the Lord. O that we could make David’s aim our aim today.
