November 16th, 2017 by Pastor SolleyLam 3:22-25
22 It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
24 The Lord is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.
25 The Lord is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him.
KJV
Have you ever wondered what kept the weeping prophet going? Jeremiah spoke to a people who would not listen to the Word of the Lord and then as a reward for his faithfulness to God was the object of persecution and scorn. What kept him going? The answer to that is found in verse 24 above, the Lord was his portion. Not a half portion, not some of the time, not when Jeremiah was in want, the Lord was his portion all of the time. Yesterday my wife and I had the opportunity to be with our grandchildren, daughter and her husband, that is why there was no devotional. We had a wonderful time, played and visited, just a good time. Did we need the Lord then? Yes. Today back to business, do we need the Lord today? Yes. Trouble may come tomorrow, will we need the Lord then? Yes we will. My point is that we are never in a position we don’t need the Lord and we need to make Him our portion everyday. Jeremiah found the Lord to be good, and why was that? The Lord was his full portion, all the time, everyday, Jeremiah was not a sometimes Christian, he was an all the time Christian. That is what we need to be.
