12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
15 These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.
KJV
The importance of living righteously and godly in these last days cannot be overstated. One needs to be different than the world in order to win the world. Professing Christians today have become so worldly in practice and appearance that it is hard to tell the difference. If one listens to the same music as the world, looks the same, goes to the same places, acts the same, what is the incentive for the lost to repent from sin and turn to Jesus Christ. Believers were first called Christians because they acted like Jesus, not because they lived and acted like the lost. Rock concerts have been brought into the church, the preacher is tattooed, wears an ear ring, never preaches against alcohol, immodest dress, immoral living, never takes a stand against sin. Why then does one need a savior? Today may be your last opportunity to make an impression on a lost family member, class mate, coworker and the like, make an impression that will cause them to ask what is different about you.
