Mark 13:23-37
But take ye heed: behold, I have foretold you all things.
But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light,
And the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken.
And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.
And then shall he send his angels, and shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven.
Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When her branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is near:
So ye in like manner, when ye shall see these things come to pass, know that it is nigh, even at the doors.
Verily I say unto you, that this generation shall not pass, till all these things be done.
Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.
But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.
Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.
For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch.
Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning:
Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping.
And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.

The Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, when will it take place, when will Jesus return? One thing we do know is that Jesus is coming again. One in every 25 verses in the New Testament speaks of the sure return of the Lord Jesus Christ, but when will that great event take place? Many had set dates and all of them have been proven to be false teachers. The Bible clearly states that no man knows the day or the hour of His return. (Verse 32) If that date is somehow kept from the Son of God who are we to tell Jesus when He will return, that is in the hands and the time of the Father in heaven. In the Bible there are no indications of when the rapture of the church will take place. I believe the Second Coming of Christ to be in two parts, the rapture or catching away of the church which is His bride, and His coming to earth in judgment. These two are separated by seven years which we know as the tribulation period. What we do have in Scripture is a description of the conditions prevailing in this earth at His Second Coming in judgment and as we see those things begin to take shape we know the rapture must be near. I want to look this week at certain sings of His Second Coming and what the Christian is to be found doing in light of that great event. From the passage above I find that we are to “Take heed”, be aware and awake to His Second Coming. It is a warning that we are not to be found sleeping, we are not to be indifferent to His Second Coming, but are to be found watching for it. That means friends we must be active, but in what way, what should we be found doping? More tomorrow.
