What is it to be fervent in prayer? The term effectual fervent is one word in Greek and it means to be mighty, to work, to be hard at something. We don’t often think of pray as work, or even hard work, but it is. How much effort do you put into your prayer life, into your prayers? The Bible says of Jesus in Hebrews 5:7 that His prayers were offered up in “Strong crying”. Could that be said of you? When was the last time you were moved to tears when praying for your brothers and sisters in Christ, when praying for the sick, when praying for the lost? We are moved to tears when trials touch us, but there are those around you today who need prayer, and some in dire circumstances, how do you pray for them? Prayer should be something we are not only given to, but that we give our all to.
