Heb 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
KJV
How many people like change? I would say a very small percentage of people like change. We are for the most part creatures of habit. We find things we like, ways we like to do things, settle into a pattern, and we do not like change. That is not a bad thing, in many cases it is a good thing. We see in our verse this morning that we have an unchanging God. Some quote this verse wrong saying that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, to day and tomorrow. It does not say tomorrow, it says for ever, God never changes, His Word never changes, His doctrine never changes, God never changes. That was why last week when in a foreign country, I could find those of like precious faith, those who used the same Bible as I did, that sang the same songs as we do in our church, and worshipped in the same way. It was interesting during worship serve that as the people sang in Slovene we could pick out the tune and sing in English. God is always the same, all the time, the world over. Why then do so many try and change God, change His Word, change all that is about God? Why? They are trying to make God into what they want Him to be. Our challenge is to make ourselves into what God wants us to be, for our God is never changing. Do you want to mold God into your image of Him, or are you willing to be molded into the image of God?
