Matt 28:18-20 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
KJV
This is the last command given by Jesus before He ascended back to heaven after the cross. We call this the great commission and so it is because of what and who it covers. This covers all born again believers of every generation from that time until our own day. It also covers every corner of the world and every people of every nation. All need to hear the gospel message and we as Christians have been given the responsibility by Jesus to deliver that message. How seriously do we take this command? Not very I fear and that is born out by our actions day by day. The fulfillment of this commission begins in our homes, then our neighborhoods, our work place and so on. We often think of the fulfillment of this as far off around the world and it is, but it begins at home. How great a witness have you been for Jesus close to home? Does your spouse see Jesus in your, do your children hear of Him in the home? Does your neighbor know of the love of Jesus because you have told him and shown him that love? Do your coworkers know that you are a Christian, have you invited them to church, have you shared the gospel with them? For the gospel to go around the world it must have a starting point and that starting point is you. Are you fulfilling the great commission?
