1 John 5:13-15 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
KJV
Another reason John had so much answered prayer in his life was that he was always found praying in the will of God. (Verse 14) When we are found walking with the Lord we will be found praying in the will of God and we will find answered prayer in our lives. This does not mean we cannot ask for things we want, need, and even desire in our lives.
(Ps 37:4 Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.) The desires of my heart include things that are not of a necessity in my life, still I am permitted to bring them to the Lord in prayer. I have seen God grant some of those desires in my life and I thank Him this morning for that. There are some that I continue to bring to the Lord and wait for a response from God. If I am praying in His will I will not get discouraged while I wait, and I will not be disappointed if the answer is no, I simple must be thankful for the will of God. John knew that whatever he brought to the Lord, God heard him, and he would be content with the will of God in his life. When we pray seeking His will we find satisfaction in His answer to our prayers.
