1 John 5:14-15 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
KJV
John also prayed with confidence and expectancy which he also learned from Jesus. (Mark 11:24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.; Matt 21:22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.; John 14:13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.) This is not the power of positive thinking, not demanding things of God, not praying with the attitude we deserve what we ask for. But when we pray we should know that the Father hears and the Father is able to do all things. (John 11:41-42 Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. 42 And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.) How often do we pray in this way? Many will pray today not believing that God will do what they ask. Others will pray not believing God can do what they ask. Such prayer are hinder as soon as they are formed on our lips. Friend, God can do anything and will do many things for us, but we can not stand in doubt when we pray. That does not mean we will be granted all that we ask for because there may be times that we ask for things that will not be good for us or the one we pray for in the long run. Remember, God see ahead, we only see now. But we need to pray in confidence that when we bring even the highest mountains before God that they can be made low before us.
