July 3rd, 2017 by Pastor Solley2 Tim 3:1-5 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
KJV
These are of course signs of the last days, conditions just before the Second Coming of Jesus Christ and as we see these things begin to take over society we know that the rapture of the church is near. These are the days in which we are living and I would direct your attention to a phrase we find in verse 2 above, “Men shall be lovers of their own selves.” This morning than anything else describes the condition of our day, the condition of our homes and even our churches, people are more concerned with self than anything or anybody else. More concerned with self than others, than family, than church and Jesus, people have become consumed with self. Yet that is not what God wants from His children, what God commands from those that love Him. The key to joy in this life is Jesus, Others, You, yet somehow that order has been reverses. We expect it to be reverses in the lost, that is a sign of the last days, but it should not be so with the Christian. I want to look this week at putting outers first, at putting the needs of others before our own. That is a strange concept today, but we will see it is a Biblical one.
