Ps 84:9-12 10 For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.
11 For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.
12 O Lord of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.
KJV
The word shield appears two times in the 84 chapter of Psalms and this is my favorite passage with the word shield. This is a Psalm I read quite a lot and one in think of even more. How we need the Lord to look upon our faces, to be attentive to our needs, how we need His presence to be felt in our lives. That is not a question, it is a statement that rings true for all believers in Christ, we need Jesus! Then how we need His grace and His glory to sustain us and carry us through this life. You need to make Him your sun, make Him your shield, otherwise we will be covered with darkness as we travel through the storms of this life. Yesterday I visited in a nursing home, in a hospital, and in the homes of shut ins. What did they all have in common? They all need Jesus Christ to be their shield, almost as much as I do. Are you blessed today because you are trusting in Jesus as your shield?
