Ps 9:1-10 I will praise thee, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvellous works.
2 I will be glad and rejoice in thee: I will sing praise to thy name, O thou most High.
3 When mine enemies are turned back, they shall fall and perish at thy presence.
4 For thou hast maintained my right and my cause; thou satest in the throne judging right.
5 Thou hast rebuked the heathen, thou hast destroyed the wicked, thou hast put out their name for ever and ever.
6 O thou enemy, destructions are come to a perpetual end: and thou hast destroyed cities; their memorial is perished with them.
7 But the Lord shall endure for ever: he hath prepared his throne for judgment.
8 And he shall judge the world in righteousness, he shall minister judgment to the people in uprightness.
9 The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.
10 And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, Lord, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.

I want to look this week at what it is to seek after God. One often hears that we need to be seeking after God, but how do we do that? There are a few things in our text that will get us started this week. First, one needs to seek after God with their whole heart. (Verse 1) I know many professing Christians who go about things spiritually half hearted. They seem to give to God only the least that they can, not the most. One service a week, if that,
never attending the activities of the church, distant from others in the church, no fellowship with those of like precious faith, I can’t see into their homes but I doubt there is any true times of devotions with the Lord. They are given to social things and activities, but not to the Lord. Those ones I often hear questioning why God seems so far away, why prayers are not answered in their lives, and one reason is that God never gets their whole heart. Second, one needs to seek God with a thankful and rejoicing heart. (Verse 2) We all have troubles, we all have problems, but we are not to dwell on them. I could begin now to list all the problems and troubles that I perceive to be in my life. But what good would it do? It will only depress and discourage me. I am better off to dwell of the blessings of God in my life, to thank Him for His goodness to me, and praise His name. These are simple things, but they require effort on our part if we want to seek and find the Lord.
Today can we determine to be thankful? Today can we begin to seek God with our whole heart?
