February 14th, 2017 by Pastor SolleyRom 8:1-6 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

Our security in Christ cannot be based on our religion or our good works, neither of them can bring salvation, so how could they make salvation secure? We see in our text that the Law is weak, ant that the flesh brings death. What is it then that I can do to keep salvation, what must I not do to keep from losing my salvation? I can work to keep salvation and I can’t be good enough to deserve salvation, so what does my eternal salvation depend upon? It depends upon the very same one who provides salvation for me, He must keep me. This I am most thankful for today especially when I consider the battle between flesh and Spirit that occurs on a daily basis, a battle we often time lose. Paul fought this battle, Peter fought it, we all fight it, and who can say they are undefeated in it? Only Jesus can say that. Jesus was pure and spotless, defeated the temptations of Satan, defeated sin, death, and the grave on the cross and empty tomb, only Jesus is undefeated in this fight. Why not rest in Him and allow Him to keep you eternally secure?
