February 7th, 2017 by Pastor SolleyRom 8:9-17 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.
For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

To heave the Holy Spirit within is a grand thing and His work in the born again believer in Christ involves several things, ,many of them in these verses. He is our witness to salvation. (Verse 16) How do you know that you are saved this morning? Do you know because someone told you that you were saved at one time or another? Do you know because your parents took you to church and told you that you were saved? Do you know because you take communion or have been baptized? Do you know because you repeated a prayer someone told you to say? How do you know you are saved? The assurance of salvation comes from the Holy Spirit within the believer in Christ. Last night as I prayed before going to bed, this morning as I prayed when I awoke, I know God heard me because of His Holy Spirit within. I was able to close my eyes in peace last evening, even with troubles all around, because of the Holy Spirit within. I know that I am saved because He tells me I am. Only if you are born again can you understand this and hope that you do understand this morning. The Christian, the true Christian, has a witness within that assures us that we are saved. Then as we yield our lives to that witness there are signs that others can see that we are saved. We will look at a few of those tomorrow. For today, if you doubt your salvation get apart and alone with the Lord, ask Him and the Holy Spirit to show you if you need to be born again or if you are saved. If any doubts remain just bow before the God of heaven, confess that you are a sinner and that you need Jesus and His shed blood to save you from sin, repent and ask Him, ask Jesus to save you. When that is real in your life you will have a witness within.
