Chron 22:1-7 Then David said, This is the house of the Lord God, and this is the altar of the burnt offering for Israel.
And David commanded to gather together the strangers that were in the land of Israel; and he set masons to hew wrought stones to build the house of God.
And David prepared iron in abundance for the nails for the doors of the gates, and for the joinings; and brass in abundance without weight;
Also cedar trees in abundance: for the Zidonians and they of Tyre brought much cedar wood to David.
And David said, Solomon my son is young and tender, and the house that is to be builded for the Lord must be exceeding magnifical, of fame and of glory throughout all countries: I will therefore now make preparation for it. So David prepared abundantly before his death.
Then he called for Solomon his son, and charged him to build an house for the Lord God of Israel.
And David said to Solomon, My son, as for me, it was in my mind to build an house unto the name of the Lord my God:

Not only was David active for the Lord in his last days, he wanted to build something that would put the glory of the Lord on display for all to see. (Verse 5) Up to this point the people met with God at the Tabernacle and although that structure was beautiful on the inside it was just ordinary on the outside. David wanted the Temple to be different, David wanted the glory of the Lord to be seen within the Temple, but on the outside as well. As believers in Christ we should also want the glory of the Lord to be visible in our lives on the outside. Now understand it is the heart that is important, God looks first upon our heart. But the people who say that the most are those who claim to know Jesus Christ as their personal savior, yet lived lives soiled by the world. We should no only be clean on the inside, but that heart that is right with the Lord will control our outside as well. We put our heart on display for all to see everyday. David wanted the glory of God to be seen in the Temple, can those around us see the glory of God that is on the inside on the outside. Do you look like someone, act like someone, talk like someone who is bringing glory to God for all to see?
