John 11:34-36 And said, Where have ye laid him? They said unto him, Lord, come and see.
35 Jesus wept.
36 Then said the Jews, Behold how he loved him!
KJV
Why did Jesus weep at the grave of Lazarus? Not because of the loss of Lazarus for Jesus knew all along what He was going to do. (John 11:14-15 Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead. 15 And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, to the intent ye may believe; nevertheless let us go unto him.) It was the burden that Jesus had for people, the heart of Jesus Christ for men and women who needed Him, a heart that was given to people who by and large would reject Him. Even at the raising of Lazarus Jesus knew that the people who needed Him most would reject Him even after seeing and hearing about that miracle. That burdens this preacher as well, to know that the people who need the Lord the most reject Him only to face an eternity in hell. Even those who have received the Lord within are often indifferent to Him. People who desperately need to feel the presence of God are indifferent to Him. We just ended four days of special meetings, and the weather was not good this year, but people I hear from all the time, people with troubled lives, people who say they are saved were indifferent. I pray for those same ones all the time, but it does break the heart to know that they are indifferent to the one who can help them. Jesus loves you my friend, why not let Him love you by coming to Him?
