Neh 4:1-2 But it came to pass, that when Sanballat heard that we builded the wall, he was wroth, and took great indignation, and mocked the Jews.
2 And he spake before his brethren and the army of Samaria, and said, What do these feeble Jews? will they fortify themselves? will they sacrifice? will they make an end in a day? will they revive the stones out of the heaps of the rubbish which are burned?
KJV
What sparks a revival? Many claim that the days of revival in America are over, that the nation has gone too far into sin. There is a point that can be made there and when one looks at the Bible they do see the falling away just before the rapture of the church and then the Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. Certainly we see that falling away today, that departure from truth. But is revival over? No place in the Bible do we see the power of God diminish, the power of the Holy Spirit diminish, the power of the Word of God diminish, or the power of the blood and the Son of God diminish. If those do not and cannot diminish and they are what sparked revival in the past, they why no revival today? There can be revival today just as there was in Nehemiah’s day. Notice the claims of the lost in verse two, they could never build anything out of the rubbish. But they did, they rebuilt the walls of the city, repaired the gates, and rebuilt the temple, there was revival. If they could see revival out of the rubbish, then why not us today? We have just four days of special services next week and I know that we can see revival if that is what the people of God desire. God’s power has not diminished and revival is possible.
