Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.
2 For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.
3 Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.
4 Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
5 Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.
6 And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.
7 Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.
KJV
What a great and precious promise is made to the believer in Christ in this passage, that the Lord will give to us the desires of our heart. When we come across a promise in the Bible it is not at all like many or the promises we hear today, God really means what He says. Our politicians tell us all the time how they have the answers to the problems in our nation and how they are going to fix them. The problem is that they get in office and fall in line with the way things are and there is not change, they give empty promises. That is not what God does, His promises are true because Gad cannot lie. The promise above does not mean however that God will give me everything I want, everything I desire. God will give me the desires of my heart when my heart is given to Him, God will give the desires of my heart to the degree that my heart is given to Him. Verse 4 above cannot be isolated from verses 3 and 5, read them together. If you want the desires of your heart, give your heart to the Lord.
