Acts 13:1-4 Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.
2 As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.
3 And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.
4 So they, being sent forth by the Holy Ghost, departed unto Seleucia; and from thence they sailed to Cyprus.

Missionaries do not stay at home. (Verse 4) There is a children’s song that states we are all missionaries but that is not true. We are all witnesses for the Lord but not all are missionaries. Missionaries do not stay at home, they cross cultural and geographical lines to witness for the Lord Jesus Christ. I am not saying that there cannot be missionaries to America, we need them now more than any other country I think, but they will not stay at home, missionaries are sent out. They work for the Lord in different cultures than their own, often in different parts of the world foreign to them. Because of this it does take a special call of God, one that will make them able to adapt to other people, to other lands, learn other languages, deal with homesickness and heartache along the way and not quit but stay faithful in the work. Many a missionary has left the field because they answered a burden and not a call. A call carries one through the difficult times while a burden will not. Pray for the missionaries your church supports, they need prayer in difficult times because they labor in difficult circumstances.
