August 16th, 2016 by Pastor SolleyActs 13:1-2 Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.
2 As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.

Another things that sets a missionary apart is a specific call of God. Above we see the Lord call Barnabas and Saul to a specific work. Call is different than having a burden for some work of the Lord. Burdens can come and go, calls are for keeps if you would. Our camp ministry is an example of this. For many years we have been working on the camp, providing a place for young people to be apart from the world and with the Lord. It is a great missionary outreach many say and perhaps that is so. But many have had burdens to come out and work showing up each Saturday, many times during the week. But we have seen, I have seen that work force over the years change as some who have been faithful in coming out no longer are. Are they against the camp? I think not, but they no longer have a burden for it as they once did. Others have gained that burden and now they come and work and for a few I think they have been called to it, always there, always working, always faithful. I pray more get a burden because we need that, we need more hands, we need more workers. But I also thank the Lord for those He has called to that work. Their rewards will be great in heaven because they have answered a call. Please don’t think we can ever excuse not doing something we can do for the Lord by saying we are not called to it. A burden for the Lord leads us into many areas of service and during those times God may call us to something, but even if we don’t think we have a call we still need to be burdened to work for the Lord.
