Rev 3:7-8 And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth;
8 I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.
Rev 3:14-16 And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;
15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
KJV
Above are the end results of no or perverted standards as we have looked at this week. A church with a little strength, (Verse 8) and a lukewarm church with Christ on the outside. It is almost impossible to believe that a church with Christ in it could have just a little strength. It should be one filled with great power, a place where the power of God is evident, a place like we see in the book of Acts when the building was moved. Most churches have never felt that power as they should and why not? Because the standard has been lost or has been perverted. The Bible changed, the gospel changed, Jesus changed to meet the ideas of the world and it has weakened the church greatly. Now we even have the lukewarm church leading the way in modern day Christianity. The numbers are there, the feel good mentality is there, the cool music and so on. But where is Jesus when the standard is gone? He is on the outside.
