Daily Devotions
July 13th, 2016 by Pastor Solley1 Peter 5:1-8 The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:
2 Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;
3 Neither as being lords over God’s heritage, but being ensamples to the flock.
4 And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.
5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.
6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

Another area where Satan will focus his attack is upon spiritual leadership. (Verses 1-3) I want to expand this to include those who are to spiritually lead the home as well for our devotional. If Satan can get those who are to be leading in the ways of the Lord to falter or fall it will do great damage to those who are to be found following their example. This is true in a church, but true in a home and family as well. A pastor is no stronger than his relationship and walk with the Lord is deep. If that is shallow then so is he, if that falters then so will he. And when he falters or falls it hurts all those souls that he was to be feeding and leading along. So it is with the home, if dad and mom falter or fall then it hurts the children, it can destroy the family. Pastors are not the only ones is position of spiritual leadership Satan is after, dad and mom are major targets as well.
