2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
3 For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.

There are indeed many witnesses, many men and women of faith with testimonies, as to the successful or higher Christian life. Hebrews chapter 11 contains many of them and we are to look to them for encouragement in our Christian walk. But there are many witnesses among us as well, men and women of the recent past as well as many who are with us today that we can look to and we should for encouragement in our Christian walk. In our little church I watch men and women in their 80’s and even 90’s come out faithfully to the services, never missing. What an encouragement as I get older to keep on keeping on for the Lord. I talked to an aged Christian woman, her health gone, her mobility gone and she told me “All I do is sit in this chair all day and pray”. She prayed not for herself but for her church family, her pastor, and her own family as well. What a legacy to leave behind. I have held the hands of Christian men and women, dying of cancer, and listened as they praised the Lord and thanked Him for His work in their lives. We have the witnesses before us, we just need to look to them. Instead many Christians look to the world, look to the TV, look to anything other than Jesus in their daily walk, and then they wonder why they are getting little out of their Christian life. They wonder why they have so few victories in their Christian life. They are looking to the wrong things and in the wrong places.
