Eph 6:10-14 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
KJV
The reason we need the armor is because of the enemy we face. (Verse 12) It would be better if we faced a physical foe, if we wrestled against flesh and blood. Then we could see the movements of the enemy, we could see him amass his forces, we would be ready for the attack. But we can’t see him, we can’t see his army, we wrestle against a spiritual foe, against wickedness in high places. To do that my friend we need spiritual armor.. Our loins need to be girt about with truth. (Verse 14) Our loins comprise our core, thighs to chest, the core of a man. This is where one gets his strength and power. In athletics there are many exercises aimed at the core, aimed at making the core strong because this is the core of strength if you would. One can have a very strong upper or lower body, but if the core is weak it does one little good. We need to be strong in truth, our loins girt about with truth. But what truth? The Bible, the Word of God, this is what strengthens us, what makes the Christian strong. The Christians that I know who are devoted to the Word of God, who are devoted to the Bible, who read it daily, who study the Word, who meditate upon it are strong Christians. I had the task of telling one such lady that her husband had died and the first words out of her mouth were “Praise the Lord”. Not because she did not love him, not because they were not close, but because she knew he was now standing with Jesus. Sitting with my mother in a doctors office we heard those words, terminal cancer, and her response was the Jesus would take care of her, “It is not always going to be the other guy”. Where should we look to get strong, what gym should we join? Look to the Bible and the one who wrote it will make you strong through it. Gird your loins with truth.
