March 28th, 2016 by Pastor SolleyActs 1:1-8 The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach,
2 Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen:
3 To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:
4 And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.
5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.
6 When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?
7 And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.
8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

After His resurrection from the grave the disciples had a question for Jesus, the same one they had before His sacrificial death on the cross and His resurrection from the grave, “Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?” Was now the time for Jesus to set up His kingdom? With all that is going on in the world today it is a question on the minds of discerning Christians. We can read the signs of the times as revealed in the Bible. Not things that point to the time of rapture of the church, but signs pointing to conditions in the tribulation period. Those things are being seen right now. In our nation same sex marriage is now the law according to the Supreme Court, genders are no longer separated for bathroom use in many states, the presidential candidates we will choose from in November are going to be a joke, it is unsafe no matter where one goes in the nation. What are we to do, are we to stop and just ask “When Lord”? No, we are to do what Jesus told His disciples in Acts one. We are to be filled with the Holy Spirit and get about the Lord’s work. (Verse 7-8) This preacher would love to see Jesus come today, would love to hear the shout and the trumpet sound as all Christians should. But what to do in the mean time? Lets get busy for God. There are still souls that need to repent and get saved, still people to train for the Lord, still work to be done. Let us not be caught just staring up as they were, lets us be busy for the Lord.
