Matt 21:11-15 And the multitude said, This is Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee.
12 And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves,
13 And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.
14 And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple; and he healed them.
15 And when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying in the temple, and saying, Hosanna to the Son of David; they were sore displeased,

Along with those who gave Jesus lip service but not heart service were those who stood in open opposition to Him. Some were “Sore displeased” with the person and actions of Jesus Christ. (Verse 15) The Pharisees considered the ministry, the preaching, and the person of Christ as a personal attack against them. In truth Jesus was their only hope of salvation. The very one that could make a real difference in their lives and in the nation they turned away from, and not only that stood in open and direct opposition to. Not much has changed today as one looks at America in these sad times. Sin rules our land, homosexuality, abortion, those are the strong points of the liberal agenda. So who is it that people stand against? It is the Christian, the true gospel, the Word of God, and the person of Jesus Christ. The Pharisees ridded themselves and the nation of Jesus when they cried out for Him to be crucified. Free at last from that name and person, but free to what end? Within another 60 years there would be no temple, no nation at all really for about 1,900 years, free to what end? Our government may succeed in ridding our nation of any mention of Jesus Christ, but it will be to the same end. Don’t be surprised in these last days that open opposition to the name of Jesus from our government increases all the more. Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it as the saying goes.
