Matt 21:1-10 And when they drew nigh unto Jerusalem, and were come to Bethphage, unto the mount of Olives, then sent Jesus two disciples,
Saying unto them, Go into the village over against you, and straightway ye shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her: loose them, and bring them unto me.
And if any man say ought unto you, ye shall say, The Lord hath need of them; and straightway he will send them.
All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying,
Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass.
And the disciples went, and did as Jesus commanded them,
And brought the ass, and the colt, and put on them their clothes, and they set him thereon.
And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way; others cut down branches from the trees, and strawed them in the way.
And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the Son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.
And when he was come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, Who is this?

Should we pay special attention to the resurrection day, should we celebrate Easter Sunday? That question matters very little because the world does stop to remember Easter Sunday or the resurrection day and if the world takes note of it then there is an opportunity to tell them about Jesus Christ, His free gift of salvation, His death on the cross, His shed blood for the remission of sin, and His resurrection from the grave. Granted every Easter Sunday there are many who will walk through church doors not knowing who Jesus Christ really is. (Verse 10) They need to be told, they need to hear the gospel, they need to be introduced to Jesus Christ. This week as we approach what many know as Psalm Sunday I want to look at Jesus Christ, look at the one who was presented to the house of Israel as their Messiah and King, look at the one the people did not know. He is first the “Lord of all”. I like reading this account in the gospels and thinking upon what Jesus did here as recorded in the first 5 verses of Matthew 21. There was a donkey, a colt, upon which no man had ever rode and Jesus needed it so the disciples were sent to retrieve it. How many miracles were preformed in that simple act that point to Jesus being Lord of all? The donkey had to be protected from birth from ever being ridden, the owner had to have that donkey in Jerusalem that day, he also had to be willing to let it go to strangers for a time. Simple things one might think but the Lord of all was controlling all of those things. It tells me Jesus is in control of everything and that He can move men and circumstances at His will, that is who He is. This should give us confidence in all things as believers in Christ. What is Christ able to do for us? He is able to take control of the little and big things. This is little to many, retrieving the donkey, but if not done Scripture would not have been fulfilled, God would have been proved a liar, and we could depend upon nothing. (Verse 5) Hundreds of years before the prophet spoke of Jesus riding into Jerusalem in this fashion, all would have been lost if Scripture had not been fulfilled.
