March 4th, 2016 by Pastor SolleyHeb 10:1-5 For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.
2 For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins.
3 But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year.
4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.
5 Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:

This is a Friday night during Lent, so that means fish suppers offered by different establishments. Lent is a man made period of time in which people prepare themselves for Easter, it is not found in the Bible. The large denominational churches practice lent, but why? One never finds in the Bible that sinners must prepare themselves for the sacrifice of Christ, only that one see the need, repent and believe. In the Bible we find that Christ was prepared, He was given a body, born of a virgin, lived a sinless and perfect life, had the resolve, had the qualifications, was willing to give His life a sacrifice on the cross, shed His blood, and rose from the grave on the third day. Those events are to be remembered, we are to thank God for them, thank Jesus for our salvation, and then live for Him after we are saved. But no place in the Bible are we told to make ourselves ready for His sacrifice, only to repent and place our faith and trust in Christ and Christ alone. Jesus was prepared, we need to receive.
